Best guns in No More Room in Hell 2
Firearms make a major difference in No More Room in Hell 2 — from peashooters to high-caliber rifles that punch through armor and bodies alike. This ranking aggregates GameRant's August 2026 "Best Guns" guide by Marc Santos (published Aug 12, 2026) with the community Fandom wiki data. One principle first: the best weapons are the ones that take zombies out with a single headshot — with a few smart exceptions below.
The ranking
1. M7A1 — full auto, high penetration
Capacity: 30+1 rounds. The M7A1 outmatches the MC-15 in almost every way thanks to its 6.8x51mm ammunition — it kills armored zombies with body hits in 4–5 shots, and full-auto makes it the best pick against crowds where headshots aren't practical. The drawback: 6.8x51mm ammo is scarce, so carry a backup pistol or strong melee weapon.
2. X12 Super — the ultimate panic button
Capacity: 6 rounds. A semi-automatic shotgun with high fire rate — the best shotgun in the game simply because it fires faster than pump actions. It's comparable to the Fierra DB12, but the DB12's double barrel can only fire two shells at a time. Range is limited, but it clears an entire room of zombies in seconds, especially on tight maps like Raven Rock.
3. M14 Battle Rifle — armor-piercing headshot machine
Capacity: 20+1 rounds. A bigger, meaner version of the Hunter bolt-action rifle, using .308 ammo strong enough to punch straight through military helmets. The M14 can't equip any scope — and its iron sights are poor — so snipers should stick with the Hunter. The Fandom wiki notes it's a semi-automatic upgrade to the Hunter 85, dealing the same damage with a larger magazine.
4. Rochester 1873 — a modern western classic
Capacity: 14 rounds. This lever-action rifle uses the same .357 ammo as the Model 13 revolver, one-taps zombies on headshots, and adds double the ammo capacity plus a cancellable reload animation. It accepts scopes and suppressors, making it a perfect gun for beginners. Weaknesses: low fire rate and reduced power at long range.
5. 1911 — best pistol in the game
Capacity: 7+1 rounds, .45 ammo. The 1911 one-shots most zombies without needing the Headblown perk, and it's the only gun in the game using .45 ammo — meaning no competition with teammates over rounds. It can also wield an off-hand flashlight.
6. MP5 — low damage, high capacity
Capacity: 30+1 rounds, 9mm. The MP5 can't one-shot heads, but the 30-round magazine gives leniency for missed shots, its burst and full-auto modes handle big swarms, and it has a built-in flashlight with unlimited battery. Shares 9mm with the M9A3 pistol — which beats it for ammo efficiency if you have the Headblown handgun skill.
honorable mentions and attachments
The M9A3 (9mm pistol with Headblown synergy), Hunter 85 (bolt-action sniper), Model 13 (.357 revolver) and Fierra DB12 (double-barrel shotgun) all fill niche roles. Rifle suppressors fit the MP5, Rochester 1873, Hunter 85, M14, M7A1, MC-15 and Gruber Ranch per the Fandom wiki.
